Culture:
They spoke their own language before the Spanish came. When the Spanish started to colonize this territory, they took control of the fishing industry and changed the territory's language to Spanish. The name Rio de Muni means "Gold River" in spanish.
Natural Resources:
The biggest natural resource that came from this area was fish. Spain made a lot of money off of the fishing industry and could feed their country. This area also had offshore phosphate and oil deposits.
Agriculture and Manufacturing:
The climate of Rio de Oro was not suitable to grow crops from Spain, but they used this area to expand their manufacturing and trading empire. Rio de Oro was great for trading due to it being next to the Atlantic Ocean.
